Condo rentals

My wife and I will be coming down to Siesta Key for the first time in the middle of the last week in March for about two weeks. The amount of condos listed on VRBO is overwhelming, and we need to get a handle on what places are good and what is to be avoided. Also, most places appear to be booked for that last half of the last week in March. Might it be better to find a place for a few days and then move on to a condo?

Condo rentals

The dates you are considering are the busiest times to visit the area...spring break. Lots of families.

Some people book their condos a year in advance.

How many bedrooms etc are you looking for? Beachfront? High rise or low rise building? Walking distance to Siesta Village? Crescent Beach area? More secluded Turtle Beach?

Budget?

www.siestakeychamber.com is the chamber of commerce website that sorts places by area of Siesta.

More info will help.....

We would be looking for a one bedroom condo on or at least within a couple of blocks of the beach, although a two bedroom condo would be acceptable as they don%26#39;t seem to be that much more expensive from what we can tell. I understand about the busy time, although it appears that heavy Spring break ends on the first weekend that we will be down there and places are more available after that.

We know nothing about Siesta Key, although we have stayed on Longboat key and on Sannibel. We generally like quiet, love to walk the beach, wouldn%26#39;t mind renting a small boat for a day or so, and are pretty active in exploring new places.

Renting the boat will be no problem. CB%26#39;s Outfitters is on Stickney Pt. Rd. as you cross tyhe bridge to Siesta Key. Great people and a variety of boats to rent.

Don%26#39;t know the budget you are considering for a 2/2.

Here are some places to look at to get an idea of availability/rates etc.:

Beach Palms

Beach Place

The Crescent

Jamaica Royale

Crystal Sands

Sea Crest Apartments

Siesta Key Inn

Midnight Cove II

Sea Club V

Siesta Sunset Crescent Beach

Fisherman%26#39;s Cove- (Turtle Beach)

You can read reviews on this page under the ';hotel'; heading with the subcategory ';other/speciality lodging';

You can also type the name in the search box.

If you see something you like, I can give you an opinion.

Thanks for the info, I will check these out.

Do you know about a place called Estero Beach Tennis club? It%26#39;s listed on VRBO.

Estero Beach Club would be on Ft. Myers Beach. You would have to post on that forum. I%26#39;m not a big fan of Ft. Myers Beach. sorry..........~SRQgirl

Hi Lakeshark2, I am a close neighbor in South Lyon! We have been going to Siesta Key for 4 years now and have loved the condos we have found at Crystal Sands, through VRBO. Every unit is nice, we were able to meet others staying there and their rentals were equally as nice as ours. You really can%26#39;t go wrong there. Especially if you book a 2 week stay, that makes it easier to find an available unit, as most owners won%26#39;t rent for a week. Good luck and have a great vacation!

If you have never been to Siesta Key, and are really interested in seeing exactly what it looks like, and EXACTLY where you may be staying, here is the simplest way to find out.

Get the exact address of the place you want to see (by searching on the web) – here’s a couple examples:

Crystal Sands = 6300 Midnight Pass, Sarasota

Turtle beach Resort = 9049 Midnight Pass, Sarasota

Go to Goggle – http://www.google.com Click on “Maps” at the top

Enter the exact address with the city – (exactly like above) – and click on “Search Maps”

When the map location comes up – click on “Satellite” – now you can see exactly where you are staying, exactly how the Beach looks, (with the exception of Turtle beach, read below)), exactly how far a walk it is from your location to Siesta Village, or the South Bridge Shops.

Hints: Use the ZOOM control (left side of screen) to get closer to the property…or farther away to see the whole island of Siesta Key….use your mouse (with the “hand” icon) to drag the satellite view up and down the whole island.

Once you get the hang of it you will see you can “fly” low over the top of Crescent Beach – Siesta Village – Turtle Beach – and see where everything is!

(NOTE the satellite image is a couple years old – so you will not see new Turtle Beach that is now much wider and has no rocks, but you will see where it is at the southern end of Siesta Key – but all the rest of the image is very accurate).

Good Luck – now you have no excuse for not knowing exactly where you are staying!
