Best Character Meals?

Another question for you experts....which character meal for dinner would be best for my sons? I booked Chef Mickey already but it didn%26#39;t get that good of reviews here on TA. I also booked the Hoop De Doo and Sci Fi Theater. Wanted to do one character meal.

Opinions?

Thanks,

becca

Best Character Meals?

chef mickeys is great for breakfast but for dinner i suggest liberty tree tavern in the magic kingdom

Best Character Meals?

Hoop Dee Doo Revue isn%26#39;t a character meal; it%26#39;s a variety show with real ';actors and singers'; with a great meal included; loved this one.

Sci-Fi isn%26#39;t a character meal venue either: atmosphere is great, but the food is just so-so for me.

For character meals, here%26#39;s the order I%26#39;d go:

Chef Mickey%26#39;s for breakfast,

Crystal Palace for lunch,

Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner (best for me).

Still working our way through the list, but Crystal Palace for Lunch was great (Pooh is so huggable).

My wife loved it, I found the royal table a bit ostentatious. Definately not for boys either :)

This trip we are probably hitting either Liberty tree or Park Fare. Cindy%26#39;s again (the wife insisted) and the Palace again (I insisted) and probably Akershus.

What about the Character breakfast in AK? That seems to be getting decent buzz.

If I can jump in please. Many of you say Chef Mickey for breakfst. Is dinner just bad. I was thinking of doing it the night of arrival. To get meeting the characters out of the way before our 1st big day at MK. Also thought that would really set the Disney mood. But,if it is really not that good we could wait for breakfast. Maybe go to the park and get the late breakfast, some have suggested that.

Well I would agree, Chef Mickeys for Breakfast, great fantastic, will set the mood wonderfully.

Chef Mickeys food for dinner a bit dissapointing.

So many options depending on what the boys like...

My whole family Loved the Libety tree Tavern character dinner. Great food and great character interaction. The characters came to our table twice!

Without a doubt the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom!!!

We%26#39;ve been to Disney 4 times since 2003. My kids are son 11, daughters 8 and 6. Here are our favorites:

Breakfast: CHEF MICKEY%26#39;S!!! It never fails to start our day off perfectly. If you get there around 7 or 7:30, you can head on over to the MK for a day of fun.

There is a decent buffet of all kinds of food, cold and hot. My kids love the Mickey waffles, and I love the veggie casserole. There is a fun napkin dance and EVERYBODY, adults included, gets involved.

You usually get to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto.

The Ohana Breakfast at the Polynesian is good, too, but it%26#39;s served family style with big platters of eggs, bacon, potatoes, and fruit. I didn%26#39;t like the food as well, and neither did the kids. There is a fun dance around the room with shakers, but it%26#39;s mostly for the kids.

You%26#39;ll get to meet Lilo, Stitch, and others.

We did the Princess Breakfast, too, but I DO NOT recommend that. I will never pay the price for the food again. Over $150 for breakfast for five.

We also like the Crystal Palace where you get to meet Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet. Another good buffet with lots to choose from for both adult and kid palates. Very pretty venue right in the MK.

The Liberty Tree Tavern was also a nice choice for us. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, and Dale greet you at your table. It%26#39;s crowded in that restaurant though. Again, the food is family style. There are a variety of meets, stuffing, mashed potatoes, garlic/sesame green beans, and dessert. It%26#39;s all you can eat, but you have to ask for more, and my kids thought it tasted like cafeteria food. (So did I).

One of our favorites was not a character meal, but lunch at the 50%26#39;s Prime Time Cafe. It%26#39;s just like ';Uncle Joe%26#39;s'; basement from your childhood, and the waiter/waitress admonishes you to drink your milk, put your napkin in your lap, clean your plate, etc. My kids were loving the banter with the waiter and had a ton of fun there.

You might want to consider a character dinner at the Swan / Dolphin Hotels at Garden Grove. The Swan and Dolphin are located on Disney property. I think the food is better at the Garden Grove for dinner than at the Contemporary / Chef Mickey%26#39;s. I think fewer people know that the Garden Grove has character dining and can be more intimate. Here is some info from the website and a link....

Garden Grove offers an a la carte breakfast and lunch menu, breakfast buffet and nightly character dinner buffet. It also features a weekend character breakfast buffet.
