Condo recommendation for elderly

My 87 year old mother, who loves Sanibel, would like to try someplace south of this, near The Everglades. I understand that Marco Island is a beatiful area, but the condos I am finding are all in high rise buildings, which she doesn%26#39;t want. Can anyone recommend a low-rise condo complex, with 2 bedroom units, that is directly gulf front? She has difficulty with walking and stairs. Are there any complexes where the beach is right outside your back door?

Thank you.

OhioBob, I%26#39;m looking for the same thing for my mother and I! I found a couple on the Cyberrentals site that might be okay. You could check Property #176321 to see what you think about that one. The only thing is, it%26#39;s a 1 bedroom, yet it%26#39;s perfect for the elderly! It%26#39;s right on the 1st floor within walking distance to the beach.

Another thought may be is to rent a villa?? Instead of a condo possibly? That%26#39;s what I%26#39;m thinking of doing for a change, those high rises have to GO, don%26#39;t you think! I just found a perfect villa on www.vacationhomerentals.com #6914, it%26#39;s within walking distance to the beach right by the Marriott Waterview and it%26#39;s one level in a good location to get to the shops, restaurants and other activities. So this might be a thought. Here%26#39;s some more

info on it. I just might look in to this for our family too for a week in the Spring, we%26#39;ll see...

Good luck! Here%26#39;s the site to see the villa...

Another thought to throw out at you...

This is instead of Marco Island. This particular place is a hotel instead of a condo/villa or house, it%26#39;s in Sarasota at Lido Beach. We did this a few years ago and it was GREAT because the beach was right out back directly in front of their property, it was SO convenient! It had the white fine sand on their beach and I remember it was SO beautifully clean and crystal clear the whole week we were there! This hotel%26#39;s been renovated since we were there, so now we%26#39;re thinking of going here again possibly. I forgot all about it actually. We shall see, the wheels are still turning around here! This hotel is called the ';Helmsley Sandcastle'; and like I said, it%26#39;s in Sarasota at Lido Beach. I guess now they have rooms with kitchenettes and you can also request a room on the first floor, which would make it so much easier to get to the beach. It%26#39;s not too far from St. Armand Circle which is SO GREAT for shopping and they%26#39;ve got some pretty neat restaurants, we hopped in taxi%26#39;s, a few nights we walked, but THOSE days are over with them! Just another thought to throw out at you...

Good luck!
