Is it normal to pay before you go?

Have a quote from VRBO, they are looking for a 20% deposit at time of booking which is fine but they then want the full amount 60 days prior to arrival, is this normal as we have never used them before. Thanks

HI

I contacted many owners through various websites including VRBO and all requested a deposit and then full payment before departure. This varied from about 10 wks to the one we booked with which is 5

wks before with a less then 10% deposit.

If you book with a travel agent, they would want full payment 8 wks before departure.

That is absolutely normal...we rent apartments in Paris, Italy and for an upcoming trip to Budapest...the terms are always deposit followed by full payment and then usually a security/damage deposit paid upon arrival in local currency. You can always post the VRBO number on this forum to see if others have had positive ecperiences with the unit and owner.

Cheers,

M

PS...we always try for credit card first followed by bank wire...most owners can take credit cards via Payapl..gives you a little more peace of mind if you tend to be a worrier....

Thanks for the replies.
