I75 Orlando to Atlanta - overnight stop.

Hi, looking for some help here. In July we%26#39;re driving from Orlando to Atlanta with a proposed overnight stop along the way. Am looking for a bit of advice as to where to stop, possibly just either side of the State border, whichever is more convenient. Don%26#39;t really want to drive for more than 4 hours on 2nd day so canan anyone recommend an area and or hotel please?

I75 Orlando to Atlanta - overnight stop.

I suppose it depends on when you get in. and what time you leave orlando.

Valdosta would be good, but if it was first day I%26#39;d stop at gainsville probably. 2nd day Val.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en%26amp;tab=wl for valdosta.

Kat would be the best for this one as she is from Georgia.

We always stop in Macon, Ga. There are some clean hotels there. I think it may be the Quality Suites that we stay in. It has a decent continental breakfast. Gainsville as previously suggested is only 2 hours north of Orlando but will have more restaurants %26amp; motels, etc. to choose from. Macon is about 5 hours north. Use www.mapquest.com and it will give you driving directions as well as approximate travel time.

Thanks for these, will check them out. Hopefully looking to leave Orlando in morning and stop late afternoon, so probably would get in about 4-5 hours driving if not more. Would prefer only one overnight stop if poss. Can I please ask how long it would roughly take us to to Orlando/Atlanta - we%26#39;re flying over from the UK, doing 10 days or so in Florida before heading up to Atlanta for our sons graduation as he%26#39;s at uni there.

Any help re this journey would be appreciated - many thanks.

Well, if youare leaving in themorning, and are going early as you are still UK jetlagged, I%26#39;d say go all the way.

If you are going the leisurely route, then I%26#39;d say Macon.

I%26#39;d pass into GA and then stop, there%26#39;s places at MM2 and 29 that are ';crash pads';.

Scotlandtinks,

Valdosta, Tifton, Cordelle and Perry all have standard roadside Holiday Inn class hotels.

From 192 and the Turnpike to downtown Atlanta (Georgia Tech) is 445 miles. Your half way point is just north of Valdosta. I routinely made the drive from Kissimmee to Smyrna GA on the north side of Atlanta in seven to seven and a half hours.

My recommendation would be get further north than Valdosta before you stop.

Wait until you get to Georgia before you buy gas. It%26#39;s much cheaper there.

CTR

you can make it to hotlanta in about 7 hours...just drive the whole way

if not, as previous posters have said, valdosta or cordele would be good

I myself would drive all the way to Atlanta...but since I%26#39;m not in the driver%26#39;s seat....Tifton, Ga is where we stop for a stretch. Hotels and food galore!!!

Can you bring me some Pecans?

Mapquest.com said it was only 6 hours and 35 minutes from Orlando to Atlanta.

This is around 2 hours south of Atlanta and is a nice town to stop if you do get tired.

Perry, GA is another place to stop which is south of Macon, and there are some hotels right by the interstate. You can check the hotels on the Perry, GA page on TripAdvisor, as well as the Valdosta and Tifton and Macon hotels. You would probably be well advised to have a hotel booked before you drive, since July is a busy time with lots of traffic.
