New restaurants

Any word on the reopening of Harry T%26#39;s restaurant or any others due to open for this summer season?

New restaurants

sure wish someone local could give an answer, I%26#39;m intrested too. Would also like to hear about Cheeseburger In Paradise, Cajun Cruise, and the Fish Market. Come on guys, give us some info on the new eats in town!!!

New restaurants

I have not seen any news on the new Harry Ts progress. The new Pat %26#39;O Briens at the foot of the bridge on the harbor is roaring along and they project an opening this summer.

Cheeseburger in Paradise is open, I went to the ribbon cutting. Have not been back, was not impressed. There is also a new Carrabas next to Cheeseburger at the Silver Sands.

I have had lunch one time at Mitchell%26#39;s Seafood and we have not been back - nuff said - they failed miserably in my search for Destin%26#39;s best fish sandwich.

We had a great lunch at the new PF Changs and everyone I talk to loves it.

There is also a new chain fondue place that just opened, The Melting Pot. Located on 98 just west of the Silver Sands outlet mall. Have not checked it out yet.

And the Cabana Cafe just opened in the lobby of Ariel Dunes I, they have a breakfast and a lunch buffet as well as a full menu with beachy type food- burgers, pizza and subs.

PF changs is where i want to go. I%26#39;ve never been but saw it was about to open last time we were there.

We have a Melting Pot here in Gainesville and although i%26#39;ve never been, everyone raves about it. I hear it can be a little pricey though.

To Kdkent

We had 10 for dinner at Mitchells fish market last August. Our dinners were all good, I had the crabcakes as did two others and found them to be very good. Waiter was good, wait to get in was long. No one tried the fish sandwich as JoeMammy did so can%26#39;t comment there. I%26#39;s say if you are interested it is worth a try as restaurant is very attractive in an attractive complex and our meals were all good. Skip the fish and try the crab.

I still have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to go to chain restaurants when there are such better places around.

Outback, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Bonefish %26amp; Carrabas, all owned by the same company.

Mitchels, I was not impressed. Nuf said as JoeMammy put it.

PF Chang%26#39;s is good anywhere. The one here is good.

There has been talk that a couple of New Orleans restaurants are coming to the harbor like Camilla Grille, but no one has mentioned opening dates.

We have a very good restaurant, Royal B%26#39;s owned by the Brennen Family from New Orleans that is quite tasty. Little pricy, but worth it.

Oh, there is another small restaurant opened up in Grayton Beach called FIRE. Great food.

To make my move out West a little more enjoyable, Bonefish Grill is opening soon in Boise. giddyup!

Now if I could only find some good gumbo.

On that subject, just returned from NOLA and ate gumbo everyday and anything cajun I could get my hands on. The food out here just ain%26#39;t Gulf Coast, but I digress...

I agree that the local fare far outweighs the chains.

Depending on the price point and rather you have small children to deal with....there is something for everyone.

There wa a mention of Royal B, which is one of the newest restaurants in Destin. I love this one, it is stylish and very good. Agreed, a little pricey.

The cherries jubilee is great! Also they have a wonderful shrimp and scallop dish, along with daily specials. I recommend the fresh fish at any of Destin%26#39;s restaurants. Usually excellent and plentiful.

The best pizza you can experience is Cia Bella with several locations. We love the one on hwy 98 near the bridge to Ft Walton next to McGuires Pub, (which also has great Irish food and drink.) A little on the loud and wild side for children however.

One of my very favorite places in Destin is Beachwalk located in the Inn at Crystal Beach.

Local Chef Tim Creehan is excellent. You will learn more about him if you stay any time at all in Destin.

This restaurant is located directly on the beach and even offers beachside dining, weather permitting. A very romantic place with a small, quaint bar. Also a little upscale in prices. Located in the Crystal Beach area.

A great local ';meat and three'; blueplate in McCallahan%26#39;s.

Cafe Itallia near 30A also good. 30A has great places to eat. Between Destin and Panama City, near Seaside, many great restaurants. Try the Red Bar in this area.

Another wonderful restaurant is Seagars located in the Hilton Hotel in Sandestin. The Harbour at Sandestin has loads of new restaurants, but I have not tried a lot of them. Have tried PF Chag there, excellent as it is most places.

Lunch at Back Porch is a must. Walk in from the beach. Try the grouper sandwich. On the beach near Sterling Sands, Dstin Beach Club, Etc..

Vintage is a local favorite for trendy upscale lunch. Wine bar offering tasting flights of wine and wonderful food. Small, eclectic wine store and excellent restaurant. Crabcake Vintage is wonderful, as is the blue cheese and pear tart for appetizer.

Located in smallstrip center next to McCallister%26#39;s Deli E. on 98, just before outlet mall on left, Vintage on right.

For the kids, try Joe%26#39;s crab shack, also try Pompano Joe%26#39;s casual beach dining located old 98 next to public beach area, and Crab Shack located near Pompano Joe%26#39;s on the beach at old hwy 98.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
