Thanks to this wonderful forum for all the helpful info. We booked our trip to Sanibel - 3rd week of May. We will be staying at the ';Song of the Sea'; for our anniversary. Yes, it was simple to book the hotel and airlines direct. The only thing to do is car, but that could wait to much closer to trip.
What would be a nice restaurant to celebrate an anniversary? Preferably one with a view of the Gulf. Also any tips about a Sunset Cruise?

For high quality food there are three with Gulf views:
Sunset Grill - AT Blind Pass with views across the street to the Gulf. Bistro style place. Small and very good food and good wine by the glass. Reservations strongly recommended. Expensive.
Mad Hatter Restaurant - Tiny beach house also at Blind Pass and reservation are a must. Possibly the best food on the islands. VERY expensive.
Old Captiva House - AT Tween Waters Inn. Gulf across the street. Excellent food and location. Nice historic building and often entertainment in the Crow%26#39;s Nest Bar. Expensive.
Less reliable, but with a good recent reviews [keep an eye on them] is Thistle Lodge at Casa Ybel. Beach views and nicely decorated. I think the other places have better food, but that%26#39;s me.
Sunset Cruise on the Lady Chadwick with Captiva Cruises is always a favorite, but lots of people. For a more private and romantic time, try New Moon Sailing out of Tween Waters Marina - a nice sail boat available for charter. Captiva Cruises also has a sail boat available for charter, so check prices there as well. Can%26#39;t beat sailing at sunset!
