got a car booked for a fortnight in april and would like to upgrade to a cabriolet am I better off paying the extra to my travel agent or try to sweet talk in Sandford for a cheaper upgrade?

Sweet talk might help but dollars will be the clincher.
Problem is that you will pay taxes on the upgrade as well. I know this is a vague answer but it depends on who you get on duty at the desk. I have booked car hire upgrades in the UK and it rarely worked out cheaper than doing it when you arrive.
