I keep reading how you shouldn%26#39;t miss the MK opening, what happens and do the ticket offices open before 9 so that I can have my ticket before the opening?

im also interested in what happens and where. have been to MK loads of times very early but the park is already open. how early do you have to be and where is the ';rope drop';?

yes, the ticket booths will be open before the opening ceremony because you actually watch them ';open'; the park from inside the entry gates....just after you pass through the entry gates to the magic kingdom, there is an area between the gates and the train station where you can wait to watch the opening show....characters come out and sing and dance, then the characters all ride in on the train together...immediately following the opening show, they drop the ropes into the park...these ropes are located at the tunnels on the right and left that pass under the train station....you are then on the sqare at main street usa....you head down main street to the hub just in front of the castle where you choose which direction you want to start your day in...when you pick your path and head down it, the ropes will still be up for a few minutes and then they will drop them and you will be on your way! to see the opening show ceremony you will need to be at the park at least 30-45 minutes prior to scheduled park opening time....because only so many people will fit in this area so you need to be toward the front of the lines
