Travel City Direct

Can any-one tell me what it%26#39;s like to fly with Travel City Direct, i.e room on board, meals, stuff for kids etc As they are alot cheaper to fly with than other travel agents we just wondered if you get what you paid for and my father-in law is worried he won%26#39;t have enough leg room. Also overall what are Travel city direct like, are they a reliable company?

Travel City Direct

Hi nutmeg57, If you type Travel city direct into search box you will see this subject has been discussed many times, started some heated discussions. Just to give you a head start. I personally have used TCD and had no problems at all. EvieCee.

Travel City Direct

I would not take too much notice of any old posts relating to TCD on this forum as the company have recently gone through operation changes so any comments you read will be dated and not true to the service being given today. They are now part of the XL group so they are using XL flights and the fact that there have been no negative comments for a few months now would indicate that all is well.( XL were awarded Charter airline of 2007) The leg room will be no less than in any other plane. We have booked with TCD for August and found that we could upgrade to XLOne for little less than economy on a scheduled flight. Maybe look into that if you want better leg room ( 45'; on boeing 777, and I think it%26#39;s 38'; on the Airbus - you also get personal entertainment system, upgraded meals, priority boarding, priority baggage collection, priority car collection). With regards to the company, they are a major established holiday company and any dealings I have had with them I have found them to be reliable, professional and very helpful. You get through to them very quickly and are they are based within the UK. Even their customer services department is UK based. This is important as there was a post on here recently where a lady had to contact her holiday company to make a change and had the most terrible time trying to do so, having been passed a number of times to an Indian call centre and she found communicating to be impossible.

Hope this helps and enjoy you holiday whoever you choose to book with.

We are flying with tcd for the third time in Sept. last year we upgraded to Sunshine First, it was fab, but this year the 747%26#39;s are not flying from Manchester so we have upgraded to premium on the airbus 330, we have a 35'; seat pitch, 40kilo luggage allowance per person priority check-in priority boarding all meals and drinks free, hand held entertainment system, priority disembark at Sanford (I know that sounds sad but when there are a couple of plane loads of passengers all trying to get through Sanford at the same time and trying to collect their luggage getting off the plane first is a big plus for us)and express line at dollar to pick up our car.

In my opinion the tcd staff at Orlando are secound to none. Enjoy your holiday and have a great time.

oh happy day ... another TCD thread = 100 posts before Wednesday - We love it.

The only thing I would add to the posts you will recieve is......................................

You only get what you pay for.

If the TCD economy / business / first / premium / Class is cheaper than anything else in the world that flys there.........don%26#39;t complain.......there is a reason its cheap.

If it%26#39;s cheap it%26#39;s cheap for a reason.

Good Luck.

I have been sorely tempted in the past.

Tiger

Spot on Tiger, I rest on your case = well written precise point - I concur.

T C D, just flown with them, they use a 767 or airbus, I went in XL1, loads of room, food very good, service excellent.BUT you have no seat back tv%26#39;s only a big board. you can purchase if in economy a personal tv with other programmes,(拢10) in xl1 these are provided.

in economy it looked cramped, but I have flown Virgin economy and its as cramped.

but the cost I found was that TCD flydrive was cheaper than others, and this was compared with Virgin premium economy, and you do not get same leg room as xl1.

I would use them again but not economy, but then I would not use virgin economy either..

only + for virgin is they have seat back tv,s.

hope this helps.

many people will knock TCD but more will give them praise.

and do not be put off landing at Sanford.

9 Hours holding a handheld TV sounds like fun.

I%26#39;ve flown with TCD 3 times. On 2 occasions I went for longer than 14 days and flew out with TCD and back with BA. They had the usual colouring books for children and drawing competitions. The meals and drinks were free the meals were absolutely fine. I was in economy class that had no less room then other airlines. There were a couple of overhead televisions per cabin. Staff were very friendly and helpful. As for reliability unfortunately I have never departed on time upto 2 hours delay, apart from last time I went I was due to depart from Gatwick and ended up going by coach to Manchester which took 5 hours. My original flight was noon and I finally left at 7pm.

I have flown with them a number of times.

They were the first to give ';ALL'; their passengers more legroom. But Now the rest ar chtching up and charging even more

I have never had any delays in the 9-10 flights I have had with them.

You can get a double baggage allowance for an extra 拢15 PP . where other charter airlines (MY Travel ) Want 拢45 each way for 5 extra Kg. And Thomas CooK economy seats only give you a mean 15 Kg .

For an extra 拢5 you can get early checkin on the day of departure and issued with boarding cards . So you can have another day in the parks if you wish.

You can get a fly drive with full insurance , and nothing to pay when you get there for the same price as other charters and schedule airlines are selling for seat only at the same price, And you dont have the have a credit card swiped at the car rental either.

You dont pay for extra for meals, and you are not charged for drinks %26amp; snacks, on the aircraft.

You fly over the same pond in a bit less time that other Time schedules.

If it is true that you only get what you pay for as some claim . ALL the other airlines are charging for something they are not giving to their passengers.

Seeing as my friend Johnny Vegas and others who keep on make these statements have not traveled with the company . Have no personal experience, and only the say so of others . I dont see as they are in a position to comment. And comments they make are worthless as they have no basis for making them.

Enjoy your Holiday and make you own mind up
