Venice Florida

We are thinking of renting a house in January in Venice. Looking at one place in the southwest part of town. We don%26#39;t know the area though and would appreciate any comments about the area. Also how are things like restaurants, grocery shopping, etc there? We heard there is a private beach (on an island?) - anybody know anything about that?

Venice Florida

The Venice area is relatively small and compact. If you have a car everything would be less than 30 minutes away. Don%26#39;t know of any private beach, but there is Manasota Key right off the mainland area of Venice.

January will be too cold to go into the water ... for us Floridians, anyway.

The ';southwest'; part of town is a big area. Do you have an address?

There are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores etc. etc.

There are are great beaches. The ';private'; one you are referring to is reached by a small ferry.

we are coming down to Venice in March and are very interested in being able to buy fresh seafood. We have been there a few times before but have not found a good place to buy seafood to prepare ourselves. I do remember from 7 years ago a spot that had stone crabs, grouper etc fresh but cannot remember where it was. I think it was towards Englewood.
