can anyone suggest a good dive shop in Naples?

Hi there,

We are going to Naples in late March and my 15 year old son wants to dive. He is PADI qualified. As neither my husband or I will dive with him we are always keen to use a dive shop that has been recommended.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Well there is not much diving done around here. Mostly because in the Gulf of Mexico there is nothing to see. I think a guy in Marco takes people to a wreck. Keven Sweeny%26#39;s dive shop is nice but their check out dives are not in Naples. You see, about a 3.5 hr drive away in Key Largo has some of the best diving in the world! That%26#39;s where to go!

Kevin Sweeny. But all the dives ate 3.5 hrs away in Key Largo Fl some of the best diving in the WOrld!

sorry the post said ';error';, you can see when I retyped it it got shorter

As others have said the diving is mainly down in the Keys - Pennekamp Park is great - there are plenty of good dive operators down there including the one in the park itself.

I had a chat with them at ScubaAdventures (Kevin Sweeney) when on holiday last September. They sometimes run trips to the Keys (at weekends) so your son may be able to go with them? Otherwise there is some boat diving in the Gulf - from Marco Island. It%26#39;s really for very experienced divers though. The shop can give you information on that too. See;

The store is in a small parade of shops just off the US41 North of Naples centre. Very friendly. Also, if he needs any equipment it%26#39;s a lot cheaper than here in the UK.

There%26#39;s also another dive shop on Immokalie road, but I never tried there.

If you fancy the drive down to the keys there are other things to do like boat tours, glass bottom boats, dolphin centres and the wonderful wild bird sanctury. Key West is worth a visit but not so much for a 15 year old there (especially in the evening) and it%26#39;s another 2 hours further than Key Largo.

Hope that helps - Tony - Ipswich
