leaving this afternoon-last minute driving route Q?

Wondering if someone can advise on Memphis TO Orlando route once we get to Birmingham? I have gotten 2 route suggestions.

#1 Continues from B%26#39;ham to Auburn, Columbus, Valdosta, to Orlando (bypassing Montgomery)

#2 Continues from B%26#39;ham to Montgomery, Dothan, Tallahassee to Orlando.

We are planning to take the Montogmery direction back stopping in Dothan for the night since we are not leaving Orlando til around 11:00am.

Just wanted somefeed back on if one is better to avoid for traffic, construction, etc.

Leaving this afternoon as soon as DH is home from work...trying to avoid the SNOW that is coming!

Thanks so much:)

You%26#39;re going to hit terrible weather either route. We%26#39;re under a tornado warning in parts of central Florida right now, and we%26#39;re expecting severe weather tonight as well.

I haven%26#39;t driven either of those routes in years, so can%26#39;t comment on construction and such, but will say that I%26#39;d be prepared to need to stop at a hotel for the night at some point, because it%26#39;s going to be dangerous driving on either route.

Be safe!

I%26#39;d say the Birmingham Tallahassee route. A little more direct and probably less construction. I-75 is a hot mess right now!

And as has been mentioned, the weather is going to be atrocious either way.

thank you, both :) snow really coming down here...had planned on driving straight through...with the bad weather we may overnight in dothan-about 7 hours into the trip...sure hoping our weather is good in orlando the next week!

Sorry this is a little late for this trip, but for future reference...

my son went to Auburn University..(for 7 1/2 years, no less) We always drove the Columbus, Valdosta route. Took 6 1/2 hours and was an easy drive.
