Why Indian Rocks Beach for a family vacation?

Hello!

We have two couples and one baby planning a late May vacation. We found the Gulfside Resorts on Indian Beach and it looks so gorgeous, but we are new to that area of Florida (we are usually visitors to Ft Myers and Sanibel Island bc we have family in those parts).

We love the beauty of Sanibel (and the charm) and having things to walk to (food/shops/bars) of Ft Myers. What is Indian Beach like?

Any imput would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Indian Rocks Beach is cute...I lived there for several years, and it is still one of my favorite beach towns in Pinellas County. It is more residential than Clearwater Beach and St. Pete Beach, and one of the few beaches in the area that hasn%26#39;t been covered up in high-rise condos yet. Because it is less commercial, you also don%26#39;t have all of the tacky souvenir shops and fast food places you see on the busier beaches. Still, there are plenty of decent unique restaurants within walking (or very short driving) distance, depending on where the condo is located. Some of them have bars, but don%26#39;t expect too much in the way of real ';nightlife'; on Indian Rocks Beach...it is pretty quiet and laid back.

Thanks! It sounds perfect for us!

Have you ever heard of the Gulfside Resorts?? It looks too cute.

Yes...I%26#39;ve passed them many times. They DO look cute.

Some of my restaurants to try on Indian Rocks Beach are Guppy%26#39;s and Keegan%26#39;s for creative, moderately priced seafood; La Cachette for French food in a romantic setting (no alcohol, but you can BYOB with no corkage fee); Salt Rock Grill for a Big Night Out (pricey); and TJ%26#39;s for casual Italian and pizza (nice deck for outdoor dining). Enjoy!
