Where do I check before I book a villa through Direct Villas

I have chosen a villa on Direct Villas Florida web site, agreed price dates etc, and have received the confirmation.

I am however still worried about handing over a cheque for 拢200 deposit, and the remainder in June, then getting there in August and paying again as the villa does not belong to them.

I know lots of people do this and have no problems at all, but I usually book through virgin, but this year I decided to go direct but you hear of so many bad stories.

Has anyone booked through Direct Villas before! or booked direct with the owner and how have you checked them out! or is there any owners out there that could tell me where to go!

Could someone please help as I do not want to spend the next 6 months worrying.

I would be very grateful of any help at all.

We are renting a villa for the first time, we sent our deposit, then arranged to pay the balance at their home, which was approx 60 miles away - but worth it for peace of mind, and he actually said it was good to put a face to someone who would be staying at his villa, as everything is usually done by email.

You could ask the owners for recommendations from previous guests- we have several guests who are more than happy to be contacted for references so ask the owners.

You could also ask them for the details of ther management company and call or email them for confirmation that they do look after the house.
