orlando to cocoa beach or clearwater

I thought Cocoa Beach was a lot closer to Orlando, but according to mapquest from Orange Lake it will take 1 hr 22 min. I thought it was less than an hour to Cocoa. We have never been to the gulf and was wondering what if Clearwater would be the best/closest on the gulf?? Would it take that much longer considering more traffic??

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I%26#39;m interested too. We leave Sunday early a.m. and we are looking for a beach experience. My wife HAS to go to Sanibel, but one other beach would be great. I can%26#39;t wait.....

I%26#39;m pretty sure Cocoa is a little closer but there are tons of toll roads to get there and it is not nearly as pretty as Clearwater. Guld side has white sand and warm, blue water. Atlantic side? Not so much...:)

Orange Lake is quite a bit West of Disney so I would say that the MapQuest estimate is pretty good.

Clearwater Beach will be further and if it is a weekday and you hit Tampa traffic it could take you as much as 3 hours. On the weekend it would be a full 2 hours.
