Ferry to restaurants on island

We are staying in Sanibel the end of April at Pointe Sante. Someone told us if you want to go to some of the restaurants you will need to take a ferry and it is quite expensive. Any help on this?

I am not sure about what restaurants you are referring to but Sanibe and Captiva are joined together by a small (free) bridge. The only island in the area (with food and accommodations on it) that you need a ferry to get to is North Captiva Island.

Otherwise your car will do just fine!

Cabbage Key, Useppa Key have restaurants open to visitors and can be accessed only by boat. Captiva Cruises runs regular service to both. You can also take water taxis from Jensen%26#39;s Marina. In season, it%26#39;s a bit hard to have dinner either place as both have inns or private homes and the folks staying there use the facilities. In off season, there%26#39;s more options. North Captiva allows visitors at Barnacle Phil%26#39;s only. The places are open to guests of the North Captica Island Club only.

by the way, Sanibel and Captiva have well over 60 restaurants, so you%26#39;ll have lots of choices.
