I own a villa and prefer to take personal cheques over credit card payment only because of the charge levied for handling the payment approx 5%.

Each time we have had a villa we have arranged it direct with the owners and paid by cheque. Never had a problem.

We are doing the same renting and sending a check - and sending it to another country - so it is good to hear that other people do it this way - with checks instead of creditcards or banks.
