dog friendly on TI ??

Greetings, I am staying at the Lorelei starting on Sat. and was wondering what if anyone knows of a place to take a dog. I know they are not allowed on the beach, and I have already taken her down to De Soto to swim down there, but I was wondering about an places locally that allow dogs at the outside part of restaurants or parks where they can chase a ball etc. If there are public access points to Boca Ciega bay then I could always take her down there for a bit of swimming on hot days providing there are no bull sharks cruising around. The manager of Lorelei apparently caught a hammerhead shark of the dock a little while ago so I will be on the lookout for them before either dog or man ventures a toe into the bay.

Anyhow if anyone can offer advice on TI locations (not motels) that are pet friendly then I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!!!

Hound,

You can walk your dog on the Treasure Island beach walk, see lots of people walking dogs.

As you said not on the beach though, as long as your dog is friendly I dont see why you would have a problem with AL Fresco dineing.

There is a short boardwalk around the southern tip of Treasure Island (Sunset Beach), and on the bay side you can hop off the seawall down onto the sand with your pup. She can then frolic on the sand and get wet in the bay. I do see dogs doing this alot. Just be careful, because the water has a strong current as it is right around the corner from the Blind Pass Inlet and flows fast.

Have a great visit!

P.S. You didn%26#39;t ask about St. Pete, but there are several pet friendly restaurants in downtown I believe. Awhile back there was a law passed, enabling business to acquire outside permits for ';doggie diners';. There is also a dog park at 22nd Avenue North and about 7th Street.

Here%26#39;s a thread from Chowhound (no pun intended :) ) covering the subject:

Thanks Ellen and Joanelle,

We made it back from TI last night. 2400kms in a few days is always an interesting drive. For those perusing this topic, the VIP mexican lounge is also dog friendly on the patio out back. Foxy%26#39;s was great with the dog in tow, the staff were very friendly and the food was great. Other dog parks down there were De Soto Beach(amazing) and Millenium park in Seminole. Watering centers (and showers) available for the dogs, waste disposal bags and tennis balls everywhere. This place was very dog and people friendly. Note for travellers. Most frshwater ponds contain gators. A dog got eaten in central Tampa while I was down there. Owner had let it run and it went into the lake after a gator. During the day, gators will lay on the bottom of the ponds for up to 8 hours without needing a fresh breath. You can%26#39;t see them if they aren%26#39;t up sunning.
