keeping money safe?

Why not exchange cash dollars for travelers checks?

They are guaranteed to be replaced if stolen.

Or ';Cash'; it in and put it all on a Pre-Paid Visa Card. You can get one at Walmart.

Have a good look around the villa and you will undoubtedly find some hiding places for your valuables.

Your stuff is safer in a villa than in a hotel room with or w/o a safe as many people have pass keys. And can open safes. I watched the steward do it on a cruise ship once.

Tuck it away somewhere out of sight. And better yet, do%26#39;t forget where you put it!

Your best bet is to not carry any more cash than you need for tips, out of pocket expenses, etc.

If you MUST store cash, look into a Travelsafe (search on Google). Should run about $40. These are small cases with a sturdy lock and chain that you can fasten to something non-movable in the villa (preferably hidden)

Good call loonbeam - just had a look at the travel safe and it could be useful since it is priced under $30. I initially thought you meant carrying a safe with you that would mean a heavy baggage surcharge and a real struggle for the wife with all the other bags.

I have a really decent one but could not find it for sale ATM (didn%26#39;t check EBay, etc)..

It%26#39;s called a HomeSafe by Helix - model #61019.

Keep your money safe by not taking more than a small amount of cash with you. Use plastic money for almost everything.

I keep my money in my elasticated pants.

Chinners: Seeing how you brought it up, how much money are you able to fit into those pants?
