Beaches/Parks close to Doubletree

We will be staying at the Naples Doubletree for a week in Feb

What beaches or parks are close by that are kid friendly?

I was also wondering if it is possible to go to Key West for the day? I understand that there is a fast ferry but are there flights that leave in the am and come back in the pm on the same day?

Thanks,

Chris in Michigan

I am not sure where the Doubletree is (it can be mapquested) but if you head west you will hit the Gulf of Mexico, all beaches are kid friendly, (whatever that means) You can go to Key West for the day in 3 ways, car which takes forever, boat one leaves out of Ft. Myers and takes about 3 hours, after the first hour you are completly board if not seasick, and plane about 30 min out of Naples airport is the Yellow Taxi air service and out of Marco little airport is Marco aviation (both can be googled to find more info) Expense is the inverse proportion to the time it takes to get there. In my opinion going to key west for less than a day only, is like getting a fingerfull of icing off the wedding cake, (you will want more) the boat will give you about 5-6 hrs but they will let you spend the night to take the next day%26#39;s boat, but if the seas are rough they will not sail.

We went to key west last yr. from naples. We left at 6am arrived in kw at 12pm that was with stopping to eat and shop on the way down. We spent the night at the southernmost hotel and left the next day around 1pm. I would not do it all in one day it would be exhausting. You also don%26#39;t want to be on those roads at night. Good Luck

Thanks for the advice occhie, I think we will either take the fast ferry or drive down and stay at a hotel for the night.

The Doubletree is on the north end of Naples and the closest beaches are Vanderbilt at the end of Vanderbuilt Rd and it has a multilevel parking garage. Also Delnor Wiggins State Park for a more undeveloped beach. Further south are lots of choices: Clam Pass and Lowdermilk Park. Naples is very beach friendly with easy parking (meters or beach stickers) on most streets in the city of Naples.
