Worried about waiting in line

I am a bit worried after seeing some posts that states that it is normal to wait in line for an attration for more than an hour.

Is this correct? And that seems like a complete waste of time to go then, If you is going to spend most of your time in lines anyway.

Worried about waiting in line

I last went during Easter Break 2006 (which as I now know, is one of the busiest times and should be avoided). However, we never waited more than 40 mins for a ride and some we walked straight on. We did plan our trip carefully (i.e. took note of which parks were busiest on which days) and we also took advantage of the fastpass tickets. We also visited the parks early morning or late evening which were less busy and therefore lines were shorter. We are going in October this year and hopefully the lines will be even shorter!

Worried about waiting in line

I would not wait in line for an hour, we arrive at the parks early and make use of the fastpasses.

It depends on what time of the year you are going, we were there oct / nov of last year and the average wait times were 10 mins.

When we have been in the summer we arrive early and do the busiest rides first and always get a fastpast for our next ride.

When are you going

Chris

Pick a slower time. Don%26#39;t lie around in bed- get up and to the park just before opening. You can walk on the most pop rides with no line, sometime we ride the same one twice in a row! Get fastpasses for others. Buy a Fastpass at universal. Don%26#39;t to a park that has EMH, go to a different one.

You are the master of your destiny and how long the lines are. You can plan around waiting for too long for anything. You can make advance dining reservations so you don%26#39;t have to wait in a long line for a lunch/dinner table. You can avoid waiting in a long line for Fantasmic, by making a Dining package reservation that gives you special seating.

Or, you can go somewhere else on holiday- the choices are all yours to make.

Have a great time, whatever you decide to do.

the lines usually only get that long during peak seasons like summer, spring break/easter, and christmas break. so, unless you are going then, i don%26#39;t think you need to worry about wait times being unmanageable.

thanks for all your responses - we are going during summer, but we will just have to get up early and get a headstart

Yes, especially in the heat and humidity of summer, it%26#39;s best to get to the parks before they actually open and be ready to run when the rope drops.

For Disney, use Fast Pass as much as you can. For non-Fast Pass rides, go to the ones you really want to ride first thing.

If you have kids and are going to Magic Kingdom, be sure to do things like Dumbo, Astro Orbitor, and Magic Carpets of Alladin as early in the day as you can. These rides have the slowest lines.

I once waitied with my kids to do Dumbo last thing- we saw the fireworks frm the front of the line and on the ride. It was like being in one of the adds- it was fun.

Definitely get there just before the park opens. Ones like MK will let into the park onto tmain street and have ropes up to keep you out of the ride areas like Kat said. So we them walk quickly to the most popular rides and do them quickly then head on. We ride sometime like 4 rides in the first hour, with little or no waiting.

And you will then be able to go back to your hotel and have a swim, or take a long leisurely table service lunch.

Well if you use the fast passes, then you should not be waiting in to many lines. we went the week of thanksgiving and it is super crowded that time of year and the longest line that we waited in was for sorin and hour and a half. Other than that everything else we never waited over 30 min. We had a lot of fast passes to, and get there when the park opens and you can do a lot without getting a fast pass or wiating in line.

Just to put you in the picture, we waited for 1 hr 20 mins to get on ';Soaring'; at epcot last September 26th, every other ride in every other park was no more than 10 mins.

I dont know what its like at the height of season and to be honest I will never know either ;-)

as the previous posters state,,,, Get in early and plan the rides you wanna get on.

Cheers ;-) Wullie

I agree---early is best! Especially in the summer.

I used this tactic at Disneyland a few Christmases ago. The park opened at 8:00. By the time I left for my luncheon at Downtown Disney (at 11), I had ridden all the popular rides (some twice, like space moutain!) except Matterhorn, which was closed for refurbishment :-(. I spent the afternoon at California Adventur, then went back to MK later.

During the parades and the fireworks is another time to get onto rides relatively fast. But it depends on the ride.
