The public transportation is limited in time and scope. Take a cab. Easily called, fairly inexspensive. It%26#39;s the way to go.... Walking is another option!

Bicycle is also a good way to get around the island. There are several good outfits that rent bikes, including Moped Hospital, at the corner of Truman and Simonton. They charge around $10 a day. Their bikes are very well maintained. If you rent a bike, make sure you lock it when unattended, there are bicycle thieves on the island.

okay, I hate this. For some reason, I haven%26#39;t seen the ';new, updated'; version of TA...but I see it now. I hate it

Is there any way to access the entire forums without selecting one at a time?

Okay, now I see there is a way to access all forum posts at the same time.

The walk to the sunset celebration is not too bad from El Patio. (I pass it on a morning jog). It%26#39;s either 1/2 or 1 and 1/2 blocks from South Street, then over two blocks to Simonton or three to Duval. Then the 16 blocks to the other end of Duval.

You can walk up Duval or Simonton or even Whitehead easily in about 20 minutes in the afternoon and end up at the Key West Bight for happy hour. Then head over to the Mallory Docks or the La Concha for the sunset. If you had dinner at LaTeDa you%26#39;d be half-way home. Otherwise there are usually cabs hanging out in front of the glass bottom boat between the Pier House and the Ocean Key, 1 and 0 Duval Street, respectively.

Can%26#39;t you get in trouble if you get caught riding a bike drunk? I remember hearing that one time...

You can get into trouble doing anything drunk.....best take a cab and let him/her take you home.

We walked everywhere last time (except to the airport and back). We would have loved to rent a scooter or something for fun - but did not want to risk it with drinks!

I think bikes or scooters are like the fly / drive, B%26amp;B / hotel discussions. Some people don%26#39;t need them at all (me), others rent them for the entire stay and use them as needed. Never having rented either it still seems to me that you could rent a bike or a scooter for one day and pretty much explore the island in one afternoon or morning, doing a circuit and some of the smaller streets you might otherwise not find. More than this seems to me to be a bother, but YMMV.
