TPC Sawgrass

We are in the process of planning for a trip to the area for next year%26#39;s Player%26#39;s Championship at Sawgrass. Can anyone suggest some good (inexpensive!!!) hotels close by. Been to Florida several times but never to this area of the state. Any suggestions/advice appreciated!

TPC Sawgrass

Hello JLIW,

-The Sawgrass Marriott would be the closest hotel. You could walk to the tournament from there or take the hotel%26#39;s complementary shuttle. It%26#39;s a big, institutional, conference/convention hotel and no where near the beach. Expensive. 1-800-457-GOLF http://www.sawgrassmarriott.com/

-The Inn at Ponte Vedra is on the ocean and is quite nice. Expensisve.

----------------------------------------

These are other hotels are in Jacksonville%26#39;s small beach communities...

-Hampton Inn, 1220 Marsh Landing Parkway in Ponte Vedra. No where near the beach.

On the beach in Jacksonville Beach: -Quality Suites, -Best Western, and -Casa Marina

On the beach a mile farther north in Jacksonville Beach: -Comfort Inn, and -a Marriott Courtyard which has been under extensive renovation for a long time. And there%26#39;s -a Fairfield which is across the street (not on the ocean) from the Marriott.

A small B%26amp;B on the ocean is Pelican Path, 11 North 19TH AVE, Jacksonville Beach, (904) 249-1177 http://pelicanpath.com/ Expensive.

Under normal driving conditions (but not during the tournament) these hotels would be 10 minutes from the golf course. (During the tournament the major traffic congestion problem is only within the first couple miles of the golf course. If you drive to the tournament you may have to park literally miles away and take a bus to the golf course!)

-----------------------------------------

A little farther north in Neptune Beach is the Sea Horse Oceanfront Inn. This is the place to try to stay!!!! It is a fun place and the best value anywhere around. (904) 246-2175, http://www.seahorseoceanfrontinn.com/ Read the user reviews: tripadvisor.com/…Scene_1

Across the street on the ocean in Atlantic Beach is the Sea Turtle Hotel which is undergoing extensive renovation and is to be an expensive boutique hotel with a different name. 1-800-874-6000

The Sea Horse and the Sea Turtle are in the most upscale part of the beach. There are a couple great restaurants within the immediate area. Both hotels are twenty minutes from the golf course under normal driving conditions.

(Two ultra old, ultra basic, and unseemingly unrenovated motels in Atlantic Beach 0.3 of a mile from the ocean are The Palms (904) 241-7776 www.palmsinn.com , and the Salt Air (904) 246-6465. These would be the cheapest places.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ANOTHER OPTION: Stay 45 minutes south of the golf course in St Augustine! That neat, charming, little, historic town has lots of B%26amp;Bs and hotels, and good restaurants! Check the St Augustine tripadvisor forum for recommendations.

My choice would be to stay either at the Sea Horse Oceanfont Inn in Neptune Beach, or somewhere in St Augustine!.

Have a great visit!

Well Spirit thanks for ALL THE OPTIONS! Great info to investigate. Expensive is out for sure but your St. Augustine suggestion interests us. We may even take our two weeks in the area as we have never been north of Daytona and have spent a lot of time in Tampa.

Best regards and again THANKS!

Have you thought about renting an oceanfront home in South Ponte Vedra? Sometimes the flat rate cost is cheaper than the daily rate of a hotel and you can save some money on having meals in. If you work directly with the homeowner, they may even give you a lower rate for two weeks. Try some of the vacation rental websites like vrbo.com and greatrentals.com. There is also Stockton Realty in Ponte Vedra Beach that manages local area homes. Hope that helps and have a great trip!
