';Eating In'; at the condo...Just curious what others do!

What do people usually cook/prepare when ';eating in'; when you have to stock a condo for a week. I usually do the standard continental breakfast items, sandwich fixin%26#39;s for lunch and snacky stuff to munch on, and I don%26#39;t forget the beer. :o) But, when you%26#39;re limited by having to buy every ingredient what do you usually fix? We%26#39;ll grill a couple of nights and eat out a couple of nights, but I%26#39;m curious what others do! Any ideas would be great!

Thanks...

We do exactly what you suggest. A couple of nights with burgers at the bar.

Cooking seems crazy when you are on vacation and eating out is so cheap

howwever.....

the portions in america are so generous eating out day after day can be a bit strenous

its nice to be able to relax %26#39;at home%26#39; with some cheese and fruit

(oh and a litre or 2 of wine)

Spagetti (or frozen ravioli or tortellini) with bottled sauce is quick and easy, as is Hamburger Helper and Manwich Sloppy Joes. Bagged salads are good and easy. You can make one of the packaged pasta salads kits. Get fresh bread from the store%26#39;s bakery. I also like to pick up a rotisserie chicken at the store.

Oh, almost forgot, I also like to pick up some fresh shrimp from a local fish store, boil it with some Zataran%26#39;s spice and have it ready for ';happy hour'; on the balcony.

All great suggestions. At Fort Myers Beach, we go to the fish market that is adjacent to where the shrimp boat moor - wonderful shrimp and for $1.00 they will cook it for you.

The grocery stores all seems to have deli counters with a variety of prepared foods. Also many of the condo complexes have barbeques for guests to use.

We also bring small containers of sugar, laundry detergent, etc. from home so we don%26#39;t need to buy there.

Even tho we live in Florida we don%26#39;t eat seafood all the time. So when on vacation we sometimes go to the seafood market %26amp; pick up shrimp, mussels, crab cakes and fish dip. Then we have a seafood feast and it usually cost less then if you went to a restaurant. You can steam or grill the shrimp and mussels and if you like stuffed mushrooms use the crabcakes to stuff the mushrooms and throw them under the broiler for a few minutes. It%26#39;s all finger food and easy clean up too.

And as previously suggested Publix has precooked shrimp and a few other seafood items that are ready to throw on the grill or in the oven.

My husband likes to cook in once or twice in the time we are here -- he has a favorite recipe and will pack the spices he needs in those tiny zip lock bags. He can then make his ';Shepherds Pie';, etc. for a potluck here at the condo association, or we have a quick good meal and invite local friends to a no hassel meal at ';our place';.

I also keep in my PDA a list of all the things we need to supply when we rent a condo - like dishwasher powder, t paper, paper towels, hand wash, kleenex, laundry detergent, stain remover, breakfast cereal, zip lock bags, foil, picnic supplies. Then if we drive, we throw these in the trunk from our home supply, or if we fly, it is our ';stocking order'; at the local groc store.
