Hi, everybody. My wife and I are going to spend a week in Miami Beach in February but we would also like to visit the Florida Keys. Should we get an hotel in Miami Beach and make one or two day trips to the Keys, or is it better to divide the trip and stay some days in Miami and some days in the Keys?

Start out in Miami Beach and perhaps rent a car for a weekend (or any two day stretch) and drive down to the Keys. Check out

a lovely boutique resort that is adults only, super romantic and perfect for a few days escape.
Best of all, it%26#39;s little more than an hour or so south of Miami. The drive is BEAUTIFUL and there are restaurants and bars all down the OverSeas Highway to explore.
If you like to snorkel, spend the afternoon at Pennekamp Park seeing the coral reefs by glass bottom boat or with fins and a mask!

Florida Keys: day trip or stay over night?
I would suggest spending at least 1 night in the Keys as this is about a 4 hour drive from south beach to Key West.
We just got back from 10 days in South Beach and we went to the keys for 1 night.
We actually stayed in Marathon at the Holiday Inn
which is about 1 hour from Key West. Very nice hotel.
I was not impressed with Key West at all. Very dirty and unless you want to hang out at the bars there is really nothing else to do. I will not return.
The beach was very dirty and the most disgusting washrooms I have ever seen in my life. No doors on the washrooms stalls.
Parking to get to the beach is almost impossible and make sure you have alot of change as it is all metered parking.
If you go to Key West make sure you go to Sloppy Joe%26#39;s bar. We had so much fun. The entertainment was great.
