Amelia late March

We are heading down to Amelia Island right after Easter. We are exploring accomodation options. Is it more fun to be on the beach/near the beach late March (still cold and windy?) or staying in Ferdnandina beach further from the beach in some bed and breakfast ?

Wx at that time of year is a toss up. It can be very warm or unseasonably chilly. As for accomodations, it really doesn%26#39;t matter as the Island is only a couple of miles wide on the average; just depends on your preference. There is a very nice B%26amp;B (Elizabeth Point Lodge) directly on the beach and several others in the historic district.

We have always stayed at condos on the beach. Even if the weather is cold, you can still walk the beach and have a great time. We have even had cold weather there in early April. Still had fun though.

Thanks.

Natalinska,

Be aware that the B%26amp;L women%26#39;s tennis tournament at Amelia Island Plantation is week of April 7th and accomodations will be difficult but since Easter is the 23rd, hopefully your trip will be before then.

As others noted, weather is highly variable although you should be able to walk the beach with only light jacket. (Today it was in the high 70s but Saturday it is supposed to be in the low 50s so you can see how it can change.)

Lots of B%26amp;Bs in Fernandina where you are easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants or Elizabeth Pointe Lodge on the beach.

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks Dave. Any B%26amp;B you can recommend/suggest in FB ?

Natalinska,

There are 2 B%26amp;Bs on the ocean - Elizabeth Point Lodge and 1735 Oceanfront Inn. There are about a dozen B%26amp;Bs in the historic district of Fernandina Beach which is about 1.5 miles west of the beach.

Go to this website to get links to the various B%26amp;Bs to see which features have the greatest appeal versus the cost

Advantage of the oceanfront is that they are directly on the ocean.

Advantage of those in the historic area is that they are all within easy walking distance to the numerous restaurants, shops and riverfront area.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Thanks Dave.
